Apr 9, 2015 4:41 PM in response to carjufiby Old Toad,★HelpfulDon't know what Apple is thinking. None of us do. However, tell Apple what additional features you want in Photos via both http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html and http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html since they don't have a feedback page for Photos as yet.

Apr 9, 2015 11:59 PM in response to carjufiby bewingtex,I really don't understand this bonehead move either. My library which was neatly organized by city is now a mess and I have to click back 3 layers (by year) to search for a picture by map. I'm really not impressed by what Apple has been turning out lately...

Apr 10, 2015 12:28 AM in response to carjufiby yagee_de,Same problem here.
First day like:
"Oh that looks like on the iPhone!"
Second day:
"Low battery?"
- Attach it to the Mac.
"Had to change sychronize settings? Why?"
"Oh where are my smart albums?"
"Have to recreate it first?"
"***, there is just a filter for photos that have GPS coordinates?"
Thank god apple does not produce light bulbs. I had to choose then, to light all bulbs that are attached to a switch or none.

Apr 26, 2015 9:19 AM in response to carjufiby McRoger,Same here.
I mostly used smart albums based on dates, events and rating.
For dates: sometimes the range is inverted e.g. 01 April 2010 < selection and selection < 17 April 2010 has become 01 April 2010 > selection or selection > 17 April 2010.
Events: have changed names
Rating: have been migrated to "keywords" -> a selection taking all "1 Star and more" is no longer possible in the same selection...
Total regression, nice user experience, with my thousands of pictures and around 30 smart albums lost, I just cannot believe it how bad Apple has managed this !

It is but not as easy. Just add Keyword is 1 star, keyword is 2 star, etc.s up to 5 star with Match set to any of the following conditions.
In the meantime tell and/or keep telling Apple what additional features you want in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

Apr 26, 2015 10:19 AM in response to Old Toadby McRoger,No.
Because, if you do that, you end up with a mix of all events, locations etc because of the selection schemes.
As a matter of facts to solve this, one should be able to make a selection mixing "and" and "or" conditions on the keywords.
E.g.
Or "1 star"
Or "2 stars"
OR "3 stars"
And "Trip to London 2014"
But is is not possible, as you only have two selection schemes "all conditions" (AND) or "any condition" (OR)
To achieve this, one should use two smart albums selection sequentially...
So either makes it possible to make more advanced selections.
Or they should have migrated the "star ratings" as "figures" (and no alphabetical terms).
That would have allowed to continue with operators like > and <.

Apr 29, 2015 11:45 AM in response to gxtxmcby McRoger,Thanks but this just describes what we already know without proposing alternative solutions.
According this these pages "this is not a bug of the migration process or a functional regression, it is a feature of Photos".

May 7, 2016 12:16 PM in response to carjufiby ReganRosenfeld,All you have to do is pick Text as the filter type in the smart Album and type in a word that would be in the location you wants GPS description - for example Cancun.
