Aperture photo book: all the photos have a darker square, like a film, across 3/4 of the photos.

I made a book in Aperture 3 and left it for a few days. Now all the photos have a darker square, like a film, centered on them, and they have resized themselves, leaving cut-off heads etc., and I cannot get the original dimensions back.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

What OS are you on? It's noting you are on 10.6.2.
