Q: i cannot install adobe flash player, i have it on my download page but i am nowhere, i was told safari has to be turned off to install the flash player. how does that work since safari is my web browser. i was told to down load google chrome

my fash player is out of date, so i tried to install a new version. i was told safari must be closed to do this , but safari is my only web browser. i was told to down load google chrome and go from there , chrome is easier to work with. i have the adobe flash player on my down load screen but i cannot install it, i need help with this.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Safari is used to download the installer. The installer does not require Safari.

I am unsure who you mean when you say "I was told..." - but here is what you need to know > Adobe Flash Player updates available for OS X on March 20, 2015 - Apple Support

If you follow the linked article's instructions, you should not have problems updating Flash - if you do, be very detailed and specific about your actions and experiences when you report back here.
