Emoji Icons - Faces Now Look Weird and Un-Cute

I understand and appreciate the Emoji icons now having diverse versions, but why redesign the faces so much so that they're ugly and lost their cuteness? Makes me not want to use them as much. I know sounds childish, but the guy with the mustache now looks like a weirdo, instead of a cute character. So do some of the other faces.
