I have the Macbook Pro with the software OS X 10.9.5, and the game will install but once its installed it just seems to be a ReadMe file and says i cannot open it as it is corrupted or damaged. How can i get it to work? Thanks

What are the requirements for the game? Maybe it is not compatible with Mavericsk.
Maybe the install media is corrupted.
System requirements: G3, G4, or G5 processor running at 233MHZ of faster, 64MB RAM, Mac OS 8.6 or higher including Mac OS X. Does that help?
Yes, that means it was designed for running on a Mac with a Power PC processor. You Mac has an Intel processor.
Apple included in up to and including 10.6.8 Rosetta which allowed Power PC apps to run on a Mac with an Intel processor.
Thus, that app will not run on your mac with Lion or newer.

As The hatter said, you can run SL as a virtual machine on top of Mavericks. You can use the free VirtualBox virtual machine software.
