Q: How do I manually add a Face in Photos for Mac?

I can't seem to figure out any way to add a face if it isn't automatically picked up by the app - any suggestions?  Thanks!

    Hey jtnoonan90,

You need to open the photo you want, right click it, select 'Get Info' and press the + sign next to 'Add Faces'.

Check 'Identify and name faces in individual photos' in this link https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/phtad9d981ab

Okay, I did that. Now I have a new “face” in the middle of the photo. How do I move it?

If the circle for the face cannot be dragged or resized, there is no help but to quit Photos and to restart the mac. Then try again. This seems to be a bug that has been reported here several times.

Is it a faces circle you added yourself?  Or the faces circle automatically added by Photos?  You can only move circles you added yourself.

If restarting the Mac did not help, click the "X" on the faces circle to delete it, then add it again.

NOT POSSIBLE!!!!!!! TEXT doesn't help. ADD........ does nothing. ONE pice with faces in it. I add TITLE, description, text, keywords

NO CIRCLES. I HAVE PLENTY OF PEOPLE IN THEIR NAME-BASED GROUPS, manually selected. here is a fresh photo with two people. brother has his own. new one can't be added. his daughter's husband in the photo can't be recognised. where are the circles? I can select to choose or reject. So all this successful  process has decided to not function any more. I want to reject this OS

I DON'T NEED HELP. THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THIS SOFTWARE NEED A LOT OF HELP. HERE IS MY HELP.

For the sake of others that may need help:

The  circled "+" button to add a face manually is only available in the Info panel,

    • if the photos viewed enlarged: You cannot add faces in the browser, while you are selecting thumbnails.
    • And if the photo is not hidden.  For hidden photos we can neither add locations nor faces.

When viewing a photo enlarged you should be seeing this, if the photo is not hidden:
