Can I upload a 400GB Photo Library faster?

I have just upgraded my Aperture Photo library to the photos app. I have a very large Photo Library (400GB, 63000 photos). It is taking forever just to do a few thousand photos. At the current rate I estimate it will take until Christmas. How do I speed it up? No happy.

The maximum amount you can have on iCloud seems to be 1 TB.

As for speeds, I don't have as huge of a Library (120GB) but huge enough. I noticed the upload speed is a lot higher during "powernap". I uploaded about 80GB in a day.

For my Macbook Pro that meant logging in, closing the lid and leaving the MBP plugged into the wall. You can't really see the upload progress. I knew it was uploading because the MBP felt slightly warm and photos were appearing on my iPhone. It does not upload during powernap when not plugged in.

Same problem except I have (unfortunately) almost 1TB of photos (on a 1TB Mac) and about 100,000 of them. (I have another 3TB - on a separate disk- in Lightroom which is another problem...) I also unfortunately I live in an area where we have 10mb download and 0.75 upload. I guess its impossible to make it work. Apple should attach a health warning that it won't work unless you have 100MB+ .. At the moment with the current results I calculate it will take 26 years to upload..(it will finish one day in the Science Museum) . any suggestions anyone? So far talking to support (although helpful) hasn't given any solution. they don't seem to be prepared to say anyone else has a problem which clearly from this forum we all do - I will have to take my iMac under my arm to the office where we have 20mb each way and see how much difference that will make....The other frustration is Yosemite ignoring that I don't want it to log out or screensave - asking for password - stopping the upload process all the time. How do you reset this? - Yosemite seems to ignore all my requests to turn the logout off. I also think it's not just the internet speed but something else where the process simply doesn't work.
