Q: "You do not have permission to open the document xxxx"...
Hello -
This is somewhat related to a previous networking question that I asked, but the problem seems to be getting worse and worse.
I have an external hard drive plugged into my computer that I Share with other computers on our office wireless network. "Read & Write" privileges have been given to myself and everyone on the network for this drive. But three or four times a day, suddenly one computer won't have privileges to an existing (not new) file that is on the drive. Here's the error message that is given.
After this happens, when I "get info" on the drive, I can see that all users have "Read & Write" privileges but I have to click the gear wheel at the bottom of the window, enter my password and "apply to enclosed items" in order for the denied user to be given access to the file. Out of habit, I also check the "Ignore ownership on this volume" box every time but the problem continues to recurr.
I've tried every solution I can find no avail, and I'm really tired of this. It seems to have gotten much worse since upgrading to Yosemite. (In the past, this happened once a week but usually for newly created files only.)
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks -
Doug
