Jun 16, 2015 11:16 PM in response to tammyjacksonby penny184,Tammy, did you solve this problem? The albums on my Macbook Air look fine, since this is the computer I used to clean up the import. However, Photos on my iMac look very similar to yours. More than half are greyed out and empty. The import is done, I can see the pictures individually in the All Photos tab, just like you can. I really hate to go to the time and trouble to put everything in its proper folder again....it took me hours the first time! My account on iCloud.com looks like this as well. Any help out there, or do we just need to wait for an update to fix the problem?
Thanks!

Jun 17, 2015 3:40 AM in response to penny184by R C-R,Do your greyed out albums also have the "(modified)" suffix? If so, refer to How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support -- this applies to migrated smart albums with 'smart' criteria not supported in Photos.

Jun 17, 2015 9:21 AM in response to R C-Rby penny184,Thanks for responding, R C-R. No, the album names do not include "(modified)". I went the low-tech way and avoided smart albums when re-organizing after switching to the iCloud Photo Library. Another thing I have noticed is photographs that I edited on my laptop are still unedited on my desktop, iCloud & iPhone. I keep my software updated, and according to the computer, everything is updated and happy, but it seems like, except for the creation of the folders and albums, nothing changed across the devices when I worked in Photos on my laptop. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Jun 17, 2015 9:27 AM in response to tammyjacksonby LarryHN,- Most Smart Albums are preserved in Photos. Smart Albums with selection criteria that isn’t supported by Photos usually migrate to Smart Albums with "(modified)" added to the Smart Album name; in cases where none of the Smart Album criteria are supported in Photos, the Smart Album isn't migrated.

Does that mean your Photos library on your laptop is using referenced files?

Jun 17, 2015 1:42 PM in response to R C-Rby penny184,I don't think so. Is there a way to check and see if I have referenced files in my library? I did go find some images that are loaded on my Air but are not on my iMac or iCloud. The "Show Referenced File in Finder" is greyed out, and so I assume that means they are not referenced files (or Show Referenced File doesn't work correctly). I do have copies of my photographs in Dropbox but I I do not remember pointing to them from iPhoto or Photos, and this seems to be random. In other words, some albums have come over and some haven't, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why.
I do need to rescind my statement that the "import is done". The iCloud preferences in Photo say they are done on all devices, but I have over 9,000 images on my Air, 3773 on iMac and iCloud, and 985 on iPhone, so something is up. Is it time to call Apple?
