Dock problems in fullscreen

Basically, when I go to watch an internet video, I'll put it in full screen. But when I do, my dock stays in the bottom, and won't disappear like it used to. I want it to be visible when I'm not in full screen, but once I am, I want it gone. Suggestions?

Don, that doesn't work for some reason in my Yosemite. Which is why it is important to know which operating system you are using.

Odd - I'm running Yosemite (10.10.3). I never need to hide/show the Dock, so I had to look that one up in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Launchpad & Dock. Perhaps you have "Turn Dock Hiding On/Off" set to a different key combo, or unchecked?

For me it works as a global, meaning while in any program, not just Finder.
