Basically, when I go to watch an internet video, I'll put it in full screen. But when I do, my dock stays in the bottom, and won't disappear like it used to. I want it to be visible when I'm not in full screen, but once I am, I want it gone. Suggestions?

This has nothing to do with Classic.
MacBook Pros don't run iOS.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences to change how the Dock stays hidden.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac and post to the correct operating system forum below:

That will help you know if there is a quick shortcut to hide the Dock or not.
Option-Command-D is the default keyboard combo to toggle the Dock's Hide/Show modes.

Odd - I'm running Yosemite (10.10.3). I never need to hide/show the Dock, so I had to look that one up in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Launchpad & Dock. Perhaps you have "Turn Dock Hiding On/Off" set to a different key combo, or unchecked?
For me it works as a global, meaning while in any program, not just Finder.
It was unchecked where you described. And as I recall in older operating systems, it was standard in the menu for the Dock to have that shortcut.
Yes, this is a known problem. When an application is in full screen it becomes a new workspace and you'll notice that the shortcut is not available via the menu therefore applications in full screen that have buttons and fields at extreme bottom of window become unusable in full screen. Apple don't you ever test beyond a new user's needs?
