Is it okay to use silicon anti dust ports while MacBook pro is running?

I am using a MacBook pro retina display 15" , Will it generate heat when the ports are sealed with silicon anti dust ports, so wouldn't it be do any harm to my Macbook?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

If you are putting silicon covers into your connectivity ports -- Ethernet, USB, Thunderbolt, Firewire, etc -- then that will not affect the cooling of the MBP in anyway. (Much as if you actually had cabled plugged in.)

However, I would say that such things are fairly pointless. In over 20 years of using Macs in some very fluffy locations, I've never seen a port go bad because of dust.

In this discussion forum, you will find threads where an issue of dust in the connection ports of some devices were discussed, blowing out helps. Mostly in the earphoe/mike connectors.

But the occasions are rare, and these plugs are rather pointless imho, like benwiggy says.

The fans do cool the mac but do not draw in through the ports. So it will not influence the cooling and not "inhale" dust.

The heat diffuses through the metal body of your macbook. Covering the ports should not be a big issue. But what I have found is that my speck case traps heat as it is a plastic body directly against the metal body, stopping the heat from dissipating away. So my advice is to pay attention to when your computer is getting too warm, and remove any covers when it does, to allow it to cool.
