Q: My new Seiki Pro 40 doesn't work...help!

I bought a nMP with a D500 graphics card. My main display is the LG UltraWide which works flawlessly. My Seiki Pro (SM40UNP) newly purchased, keeps flashing the same messages (No Video Input) and something about sleep. From the Seiki, I have a Display Port cable from Cable Matters. The Display Port cable is connected to a Mini Display Port adapter, which is connected to the nMP.

I should mention that when I tried connecting my MacBook Air to the Seiki, it works using the same Cable Matters cable. I also tried connecting the nMP to the Seiki using a HDMI cable and that worked and I can get 3480 x 2160, but at 30Hz. I need 60Hz which is where the Display Port cable comes it. The Seiki has DP v1.2.

In the System Pref's, when I bring up Displays, (pictured below), I can "Gather Windows, but the Seiki is still black. For nearly 4 hours, I've tried just about everything.

Does anyone have a clue as to why the Seiki isn't working? The Sourse on the Seiki is set to Display Port 1, which is where the cable is connected. I'm running 10.10.3.

Any info, suggestions, etc...would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Try resetting the SMC and PRAM

You said "connected to a Mini Display Port adapter" Are you using this same adopter on the MacBook?

    Hi IIIaass,

Thank you for the info. I'll try that when I get to my studio this morning. Regarding the adapter, I am using the same one on the MacBook. As a matter of fact, I tried 2 adapter's, just in case the one for the Seiki was broken.

I tried resetting and PRAM, but that didn't fix it. It flashes between No Video Input and Enter Sleep Mode continually. Is there anything else I could try? Thanks!

Also, I launched SwitchResX and the Seiki is clearly showing up but the display remains black with the messages mentioned above. I tried several resolutions, but nothing seems to get it out of confusion.

The only thing left besides a fresh install of Yosemite is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I've had terrible experiences with them, unfortunately.

Well to my surprise, after simultaneously pressing on 2 buttons on the Seiki, the window below popped up. I went to Factory Reset and clicked it, and voila, an image, but it's running at 30Hz. There's no indication of 60Hz in Switch ResX.

Here's some added information. I need to set the Seiki to Display Port v1.2 for it to see 60Hz. By default, it's set to v1.1. When I switch it to v1.2, the monitor returns to flashing No Video Input and Enter Sleep Mode. Grrrrr!!!

I am having this issue with a Philips BDM4065UC.  Same thing.  Works at 4k 30 Hz but switch to 60 and get nothing.  The mac recognizes it in the system report, but no signal to the screen.  I read on another site that Apple doesn't support these monitors.  And apparently they are a SST and apple only supports MST.  Multi stream transfer instead of Single.  Either way, it seems like it is an Apple Support issue.  Anyone else having this issue?

    How is that monitor connected?

HDMI on the 2013 Mac Pro only support 30/24 Hz at 4K

Monitor is connected through the thunderbolt port on the mac pro with a mini DP to display port cable.  I have also tried a thunderbolt cable straight into the monitor since it has a mini display port as well as display port.  Nothing works at 60hz.  I found out that Apple doesn't support monitors that are SST.  Both the Seiki and the Philips are SST.  Apple only supports MST.  Unless someone has some plugin to fix this.

When I bought the Seiki Pro 40, it took a few days to get it up and running, and finally got it working at 60hz. I have a recording studio, so I keep the Mac Pro in another room. I was told by everyone that I couldn't use a Displayport cable longer than 6 feet. I'm using (2) 15 foot cables connected to a (2 port display port splitter) and got it working. Lucky me.

Hey Imagine, How did you get it to work.  I have the monitor set to DP 1.2 and nothing works.  Set it to 1.1 and I get 2160p 30hz.

    What was your secret?
