Q: "Add Image to Photos" in Safari not working. Any thought why? OS X (10.3.3)

Hey team, when I bring up the contextual menu in Safari and select "Add Image to Photos" nothing happens. Is it supposed to behave in the same way iPhoto did? Any thoughts welcomed and encouraged, thanks!

I'm having this same problem too. Is this a bug in Safari or in Photos?

I kind of remember that it worked before I did the recent Safari update.  So I gotta suspect it's that update that did it.

I don't understand how this problem has gone unnoticed and unaddressed.  It is not a hidden feature that is only broken under specific conditions.  It flat out does not work.  Come on Apple, acknowledge the problem and release a fix!

me too.  I usually save to desktop and then import to Photos, but I just realized that this option is available in Safari.  Since these are not my original images, I don't know the file names for which to search.  One might think that they would be found in moments with today's date, but no.

Importing from Safari, Mail and other similar apps that require a Control (right) - click on the image and that contextual menu does work.   When you use the Add Image to Photos option in Safari, emails, etc. the photo bypasses the Last Import smart album

You can see the images at the bottom of the All Photos window which is sorted by Date Imported.

Thanks - I just tried it and 4 images "added to Photos" do not appear at the bottom of ALL PHOTOS.  I also have created a smart album to identify any images not tagged (I assign keywords to all images imported) and the album is empty.  (closed Photos and restarted, also switched to LAST IMPORT and then back to ALL PHOTOS but to no effect.

As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Try to import some photos from Safari to determine if the same problem persists. Does it?

It seems to be working again - obviously (??!!) an Apple employee hit the same problem....  :-))))  But good to keep the above tips in mind!  Thanks for the input.

still unable to add images to Photos except by importing.  I created a new library but none of the images I added to Photos appear.  However, Finder shows the new library is 4.9 mb?

That's the normal size for a new, empty library.  Reboot and try the contextual Export to Photos again.

If you have done so since upgrading to Yosemite boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and repair both the disk permissions and the disk.  Reboot normally.

Thanks again, but this did not resolve.  The only info I found which may be pertinent is that REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS was not a selectable option in recovery.  I ran  REPAIR DISK and did not encounter any issues.  Still unable to add images to Photos using test library or other library.  Saving images to desktop and then importing is an acceptable workaround since that is what I am used to, but curious that Inevanmac is reporting that this contextual export is working now.

Be sure you selected the start up disk and not the whole disk itself:

    Don't select this:

    Do select this:

I have tried everything suggested and it still does not work.  When you select the option to add the image to Photo, the system does absolutely nothing.  There is not the slightest flicker or hint of any activity at all.
