Does 10.6.8 support the new photos app?

I have an iMac running 10.6.8, Snow Leopard. It is too old to upgrade to 10.9 or 10.10. I wish to upload my iPhoto to the cloud or to the Photos app and I am confused. Can my old Mac even get to the Cloud? If I need Photos to get to the Cloud, can I install photos on this Mac. I intend to get the new MacBook but want to have my content as ready as possible to transition.
