I can't add movies to itunes

All of a sudden I cannot add movies to itunes. The Home Video tab is missing too which is where added movies usually went and then you would change them from home movies to movies for them to import to my ipod touch. I am up to date with iTunes and even uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but no change. Anyone have the problem and fix it? Any help is appreciated.

Perhaps a complete tear down and rebuild would help?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I have been copying movies to my ipod touch every month for a couple years so the process is not new to me. The Home Videos button has always shown whether I had a movie categorized as a home movie or not. Anything time I chose to add a new file to the library and it was an .mp4 it would automatically put it in the Home Video area and then I would have to right click on the image and choose Get Info. Then I would have to choose for it to go from the Home Video to Movie where it would then allow me to copy it to my ipod when I did the sync. Right now I try to add an .mp4 file it does not show up in movies and there is no Home Video button to look for it there. Currently I am just trying to delete itune and go back to an earlier version. Just frustrating.
