Q: What does the exclamation point indicate on the playlist menu?  How do I remove them?

I have a rather moderate number of musical selections on my iPod classic that I manipulate periodically by either adding to, rearranging, or deleting from the playlists.  I have noticed that in manipulating my lists, I have gathered a large number of exclamation points that appear at the beginning of each selection.  It also prohibits syncing of selections, when the exclamation point appears before the selection.

How do I remove these from each selection?

I assume that you mean the exclamation marks are showing in your iTunes Library (since the iPod Classic is not able to do so).

The exclamation mark (in your iTunes Library) means that iTunes can no longer locate the file (the song itself) on your computer. The question is, what are you doing to "manipulate" the playlists, because it sounds as though you are deleting the song files from your computer, or moving them from one folder to another (folder means the Windows folders). I.E. that you are using Windows Explorer to "manipulate" the files.

The usual method of modifying playlists is to do so within iTunes, not in Windows Explorer.

    DrLarDog,

The article linked below details the nature of the exclamation mark that you're seeing and details how to go about correcting the issue.
