ADAT setup

HI everyone.

I have recently switched over from steinberg/windows platform to mac osx / logic pro 7.2 and must say I have never more happier.

The audio interface is the digi 002 running on MAC OSX tiger with CoreAudio driver.

Excuse my ignorance but I am trying to get an ADAT signal into an audio track in logic. I am running ADAT signal feeds from the focusrite octopre (just 1/8 (48/96)) into DIGI 002 ADAT IN.

In logic, I have created the audio objects in the environment. As an input source surely I am able to select ADAT 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 IN for record for that specific channel? Do I have to use busses to control routing rather than a direct in? Surely its possible? I have gone through the manual extensively, maybe I am missing something at this alarming pace of setting things up...

What do you propose or recommend the best connection setup would be in my case using focusrite octopre platinum with digiboard, digi002, 01v96?

I have also a VAMP guitar & bass processor I need to link to 01v96 but will use auxillary busses for that, but again, I need to get digital signals into logic 7.2 from the focusrite pre.

I come from a total analog environment into digital... getting to grips with the new tech.... slowly. oi.

Any help would be greatfull.

hi guys, thanks

i did have the sampling frequency set to 96khz, but am now trying on 48khz/24 bit to get things going. now here's an interesting thing S/MUX? you mean I cannot send 96khz over ADAT from the focusrite? or should i use the 25pin d-type?

in logic i get inputs 1-8 reserved for analog, i presume 9-16 for ADAT and 17-18 for SPDIF. (that is how it shows up in pro-tools le 7.1.1. I/O settings. all in all i get 18 channels of inputs but there is no signal meter-reading in the channel-strip's level meter..

which brings me to the point of creating an audio object (like mentioned) where signal can be routed to appropriate logic channel.

I created an audio object and chose input 9 through 18) just to be safe and now should get a signal but still not.

there are two mixers, environment and global. as i create the audio object it shows in global.

still no reading, any ideas?

phil

ok any ideas?

You can send it, but the 002 doesn't support it. You can send 2 channels digitally at 96k using the spdif port though. But for ADAT and the 002, it's 48k max.

Correct.

all in all i get 18 channels of inputs but there is
no signal meter-reading in the channel-strip's level
meter..

In arrange, select an audio track, set its input to the desired channel, record arm it. You should be good to go "IF" you've set your 002 clock to slave to ADAT or spdif, whichever you're using, in the Digi core audio manager.
