iMac freezes in finder after update

hi there.

MY iMac (24") keeps beach balling in the finder ( 5 mins after restarts) this has only happened since the latest update.

I Have so far reset vram done the smc (I think it's called that) reboot with the power plug. done repairs and permissions a verity of ways. Booted into safe mode etc. all with the same issue.

ONe thing that is defiantly happening is the hard drive is stopping just as it freezes does that click sound then silence.

ANybody have have anymore ideas or possible causes? ( other than the update which is the culprit)

i really really do not want to re-install again!

THanks in advance

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault.

Back up all data on the drive immediately if you don't already have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

start up drive is not the issue and the HDD is 100% working.

I unplugged my machine for 12 hours and re did all the vrams etc seems to be fine now no issues what so ever even when pushing it in Cinema 4D and Premiere.

Another thing i did was removed my Razor Naga mouse and re installed the mouse drivers. That may have also cured the issue i was having. I have seen that some people have had other issues with 3rd party keyboards and random freezes.
