Q: iPhoto importing photos with staff permission missing

Snow Leopard iPhoto. When I import photos from my Canon camera into iPhoto (or any other program) the photos are imported missing the "Staff" permissions, which makes sharing very difficult. I can correct this by repairing the permissions, which then adds the "Staff" permission, but the next time I import from my camera, the exact same thing happens, no "Staff" permission. I have deleted the program and library and reinstalled from the CD, I have updated, I have repaired permissions from the Disk Utility, I even tried BatChmod, Nothing seems to fix the importing permission issues. Until about six months ago, I never had any issues. I am thinking something went awry when I upgraded to Maverick, and due to other issues had to revert back to Snow Leopard. I used the install disks to restore Snow Leopard. The only way I can now import photos with the correct permissions is to take the SD card out of the camera, put in an SD reader and open the file to the photos and drag out the photos I want into a folder or on the desktop. When done this way, the "Staff" permission is there.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Mac mini (Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8), iPhoto 8.1.2
