You don't have to do anything.
If you want to you can migrate your iPhoto and Aperture Libraries into Photos Libraries just by opening them:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

Just to clarify: If I do not move my i-photo and aperture libraries, will those programs continue to function as they always have?
I'm concerned that my images will be compromised in some way by migrating them (especially Aperture).

Yes.

Migrating the libraries will create copies of the Aperture library or iPhoto Library. The copies will share the photos with your original libraries by creating hard links. They will not need much additional space, and do not change the original libraries.
