what are the steps to upgrade from 6.1.3 to 8.3?

I have a concern in upgrading my ipad2 to 8.3. It is currently on 6.1.3 It seems to me that it is a big jump from 6.1.3 to 8.3. Has anybody done this successfully before? What i like to know is if I need to upgrade to some other versions before 8.3 first before it ends at 8.3.

iPad 2, iOS 6.1.3

See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.
