Q: Apple watch try fit

I wen to an apple store to try fit the new apple watch, the lady told me that i need to get an appointment to try and fit the apple watch. This is in-sane, there are no people she is serving and I need to get an appointment, i think apple is trying hard to project an image that the apple watch is a very exclusive product and with this attempt they are alienating the actual customers that wants to buy their product. I refuse to set-up an appointment top try a product that I wan to buy, i have bought many apple products without setting-up an appointment to try it. I will no buy this product until they  change their p

Then the rest of us will have  Watches while you just sit and wait.

Although if the  Watch department in that Apple Store wasn't busy I have to wonder why the sale person didn't help you book an appointment. I have a friend who went by an Apple Store this morning and he reports that they demonstrated an  Watch for him after just walking in. The experience may differ from store to store. Perhaps you should call and speak to the manager of that store.

You might get prepared for things to be different in the future with new Apple products. Apple doesn't seem to want to do things as they did in the past. Apple and its neighbors don't want the week long, camping out & sleeping overnight lines that were part of the Apple product launches of the past. With the introduction of the  Watch, to pre-order you have to have an Apple ID, create an account in the Apple Store online and have the product delivered to your home or office. It seems that there won't be any in-store delivery during the premier and perhaps even no in store sales at first. This should stop the paid line holders who were buying the full limit  of new products in the past for shipping overseas for black market venders to resale at exorbitant prices. No more anonymous buyers.

Apple wants to create an illusion that Apple Watch is an exclusive product. If they want their customers to buy the product online they should be ready to show the product in the retail store without any hassle. If I want to buy a Tag Heuer watch and I go to the a Tag retail store, the store will not ask me If I have an appointment, the attendant will let me try the watch and fit it. Apple did not think this trough they should have dummy watches that can be fitted by customers, the 'by appointment' that they are trying to orchestrate should be for those people who have other questions about functionality, I do not need demo of functionality I just want to see which watch fits on my hand the 42mm or the 38mm.

No illusion necessary, the  Watch is an exclusive product, a very personal product. As far as requiring an appointment, that isn't anything new at Apple, you have needed an appointment to see an Apple Genius in the Apple Store for a number of years.

Get on board with how Apple chooses to demonstrate and sale the  Watch or move on to another company's products.

Apple can ban me from this forum if they want. What good is a forum if you can not voice you're own opinion. Fitting a product should not require an appointment it is different from whatever that genius thing you're talking about never needed that and will not need it ever.

When did Apple ever have a product before that could benefit from a fitting?

Honestly, no one here is concerned one way or another what products you buy.

This is a TECHNICAL SUPPORT FORUM. It is not a place to express opinions. There are plenty of places on the web to express your opinion if you choose to do so.

Apple is trying to move away from long lines of people waiting outside their doors for hours on end. If they had not required appointments the stores would have been flooded. I too am wondering why the rep didn't offer to help you make on there. But putting your name down for a 10 minute fitting is hardly something to get upset about. It also means you have a dedicated employee assisting YOU and not you and 3 others at the same time. It also means they have some physical control over who is trying on watches and keeping track of them so some putz doesn't walk off with them. Tag has had their retail stores set up for some time. They will not let you just walk in and try on their watches without someone available to personally assist you. If they are busy, you have to wait.

I wonder if Apple didn't allow the appointments and you had to wait an hour just to try on watches, what your complaint would be then.
