iCloud transfer speed

How long should 8000 pictures and videos take to upload to iCloud?

Mine are transferring very slowly (3200 in 2 days)

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), mac book pro (core duo)

To answer that some info is needed, number of photos is not relevant, how big (in GB) is the library and how fast is your upload speed?

Initially photos estimated the size at 56Gb and the upload speed in about 5Mb/sec

Here is a link to an upload time calculator, enter your figures and see for your self, set the overhead at 20% (if you want a realistic result), it'll come out to approx 29 hours.
