Itunes movies on non apple tv

Hi all,

I am new to this technology so please excuse my ignorance. I am thinking about starting to purchase movies through iTunes, but I do not have an apple TV. Am I still able to watch them on my TV through a hard drive, so I do not have to plug in my computer every time. Or can I only watch them on my computer. Can someone please help explain how this all works, not wanted to download any until I know that I can watch them as I did it once before and I could not watch what I rented so it was a waste of money.

Thanks

Jacey

The current version of Apple TV doesn't store content internally. It lets you stream content from your computer or your purchases directly from Apple's servers. You either select something to play on your computer, and tell it to play through Apple TV, or you control the Apple TV and browse the library or your purchases though it choosing things to play, or access the other services it provides such as Netflix Now TV and so on. If you have any Apple iOS devices you can direct their output through Apple TV also. See more http://store.apple.com/us/buy-appletv/appletv.
