FaceTime and Messages HIGH CPU and Execution Length

FaceTime, and Messages under OS X 10.10.3 (just upgraded) now take several "bouncing" minutes to open fully. This is new behavior under the recent update, as the prior release did *not* exhibit this problem. During the launch process, which now takes a couple minutes, I have no other applications open and the CPU is pegged at 99% for either the FaceTime, or the messages process. It should be noted that I do have a large number of contacts (just around 7,300) in my address book, although this had never been an issue. It should also be noted that this behavior occurs at every attempt to launch the application. Once it is launched, it appears to operate normally.
