Apr 22, 2015 8:17 AM in response to motahirby RightRevGoldstein,I have also had this problem too. 8.3 has reduced the signal quality and crackling in the background for some callers.

Apr 22, 2015 1:25 PM in response to Courcoulby motahir,i got a feeling it's the 4G 3G 2G toggle has something to do with the call quality as 8.2 has no problem & does not have the toggle.

Apr 23, 2015 12:15 AM in response to Imperiu5by teloni0,Same problem here after upgrading to iOS 8.3 on my iPhone6 64 GB. Everything worked perfectly before on iOS 8.2. Please fix that.

Apr 23, 2015 1:31 AM in response to Imperiu5by sandrisandri,Same here.
Perfect call quality before the upgrade, now in almost half of the cases I cannot hear the other person, the sound in extremely distorted. I have also experienced dropped calls in spaces with perfect signal intensity (five bars) which have not happened in years until now. Maybe it has something to do with decrease in SIM compatibility with iOS 8.3? Mine is 2 years old.

Apr 23, 2015 5:46 AM in response to Imperiu5by Whisper78,Same problem also for me... The quality of calls seems to crackle on high tones and landline calls: I tried with the audio note and I don't have this problem. It definitely seems a firmware issue; just chatted with Apple and they told me they didn't hear about this problem.
Iphone 6 64 Gb.

Apr 26, 2015 2:25 AM in response to Imperiu5by frederic_muc,★HelpfulI have the same problem with my iPhone 6 since I upgraded it to IOS 8.3. Out of curiosity I bought another iPhone 6 today. The installed IOS version of this phone was initially 8.1.3. The call quality of this iPhone was just perfect. After the upgrade to IOS 8.3 the same problem occurred on this device.
It is pretty obvious that the IOS update is the root cause for the mentioned crackled and distorted sound quality.
I figured out that the problem is also hearable through the headphones. However, over the speaker or via Bluetooth the sound quality is clear.

Apr 26, 2015 12:45 PM in response to frederic_mucby hardwickp,Apple don’t listen to us do they! My first iPhone – what a mistake!
For the past week I’ve been communication by (many) emails with Austin Rooks, Chat Senior Advisor at Apple Support. He first said to erase the iPhone and reset it as new. I did all this and the sound problem that we’re all experiencing was / is still there. What a waste of time!
I gave him the link to this discussion – he hadn’t seen it before!
He said that he understands my dissatisfaction at having to have a brand new 2 month old iPhone 6 plus 128gb (cost me £800!!) – that developed the sound problem after the 8.3 update - being replaced with a re-manufactured one (that has the same fault).
He understands our exasperations and that we are wasting so much time but says that their engineers haven’t yet confirmed or fixed the fault!
In his last email he says in order to progress further I need to restart communication with the UK Support team by phoning them as my request to him to communicate with the UK staff “is beyond what he can provide and that this is the best he can do”!!!!
I told him “I can’t believe that Apple can’t speak to each other! There is no sensible reason why you couldn’t pass the details to your UK colleague. Apple are proving to be dishonest, not caring for customers, careless, incompetent, lack expertise. Looks like I’ll have to get the forum to solve the faults and put pressure on Apple to do the right thing.– isn’t this of serious concern to Apple??? It will be to the media!!! I should
have stayed with Blackberry!”I haven’t heard any more from him!
So here I am sharing it with you all!
Come on Apple:
Take ownership,
Accept responsibility,
Accept there’s a fault,
Give me the brand new iPhone that I purchased,
Be honest,
Fix it now - if need be, revert back to 8.2,
+ in future don’t issue updates without first fully checking them.

Apr 26, 2015 1:23 PM in response to hardwickpby motahir,i got the same treatment. apple chat said they cant take it higher so they booked an apple call & they said they couldnt do anything & said do i want to call apple in america & i said no i'm not calling america. & then they told me if everything works on 8.2 then stay on that... wow like i didnt know that.
i give up ! for the price of their phones you would think quality control would be very strict.

Apr 27, 2015 12:19 AM in response to Imperiu5by sandrisandri,Hello everybody.
If you allow me, I will try to briefly summarize our problem.
We are a group of people facing a serious flaw while using the iPhone. One of its major features (voice calling) is compromised for us. We are trying to understand the problem but still there are quite strange technical issues in my opinion:
1. The problem is not as widespread as it may seem. There have been by far more widespread problems then ours. There seem to be a lot of people with iOS 8.3 with normal iPhone call quality;
2. There are people that have changed iPhones and the problem is reproducible on new iPhones as well as soon as iOS 8.3 is installed. Therefone, it is obvious that we all do not have defective iPhones all at once. For sure it is software -related. It seems (correct me if I am wrong) that the problem appears even on new "empty" iPhones, so no application incompatibility could be the cause. Why some people are not affected and others are, recurrently?
In my opinion, the issue appears because iOS 8.3 introduces a sort of incompatibility related to specific carriers (cellular bandwidth?) and maybe in association with specific SIM cards.
Has anyone tried to change the SIM card or has anyone spoken with the carrier related to this issue? For the ones without carrier-locked phones (as I am), have you tried to insert a SIM card from another carrier?
Best regards and thank you.
