Airplay direct from iPhone to Apple TV?

Use my Apple TV 3 at home on my home WiFi network. Using my iPhone I can airplay stuff to it fine.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that you don't need a WiFi network now to be able to use Apple TV.

So is this possible... Take my iPhone and Apple TV to a cottage that doesn't have WiFi and stream some saved movies on my iPhone to the Apple TV to watch? 3G/4G service will be poor to, so I'll sync some movies to my iPhone so they are saved on my iPhone.

I thought (trying to find it), that for example presentations for salesman could be done like this with no WiFi. So going to a convention, setting up an iPhone and Apple TV could show stuff, thus not how it works?

That would be peer to peer AirPlay. If you have the latest Apple TV (3rd gen, model A1469) running firmware 7.0 or later and iPhone 5 or later on IOS 8 you should be good to go (device would need wifi and Bluetooth turned on)

I do have an A1469, all up to date on iOS on phone and Apple TV as if today. I've read the Apple support doc but still bit confused and not fully sites if it will work like I want above. Was hoping someone has used it can explaIn.
