Q: Mac client loses Open Directory binding.

So I am managing a Mac lab of about 30 Mac Pros and 40 iMacs all running Mavericks.  I have 2 XServes in the office running OSX 10.8.5.  The Macs are all bound to Open Directory in the first Xserve (2x2.93 GHz Quad Xeon, 24GB  Ram) which is running Server 2.2.1. I recently updated the Server version on the xServe to 2.2.1 up from whatever the version before it was.  Now all of a sudden,  random macs down in the lab seem to randomly stop connecting to Open Directory.  If I go under the Network Account Server settings on the client side, unbind then rebind, it connects just fine and is just dandy.  But in order to do that I need to go down to the machines and log in as the local admin whereas the other people using those machines dont have the local admin log in and they cannot log in using their information.

Anybody have any tips?

Sorry if this isn't descriptive enough, I am fairly new to the mac environment and am still trying to figure this stuff out.
