My old MacBook's motherboard was damaged to the extend that I had to replace it with a new OS X Yosemite. I have FCP X - but also want to use FCP 7. When I try to install it with the disc, the message reads"invalid product key". The duplicate from my old MacBook - the message is that it can not run on this version- need to re-instal. Has anyone also had this problem? Any solution?

Not sure what you mean by this - is the serial number for your disc being rejected?
Is the FCS3 you are installing an upgrade version or a full version?

I bought FCP 7 in 2010 and installed it with discs on my old MacBook. May be one can use that serial no only once? Even if your computer broke down?
You should be able to re-install from the installation disks.
