None of the above discussion has been correct or helpful in my case. My daughter took a video for a class project using my iPad. I shared it via iCloud with my laptop. I need to get the video file onto a jump drive. I have selected the video, clicked on file and export. The resulting choices (including export original file) are not highlighted and therefor cannot be selected. I also tried the "create a keyboard shortcut" noted previously in this thread with no results. If there is an additional script or some other technical step, then that would be helpful to know. Sharing options are only relevant to social media or emailing/texting what I assume will be a compressed, degraded file.
In order to get the required result I have resorted to uploading the files to my Google Drive account, and I have no idea if the file will be compressed. In fact I don't even know how to figure out what the actual file size is for any of my media files. If Apple really wants to send me to Android land, they're doing a great job. If you have snarky replies about my limitations in this matter or a desire to parse my grammar, as above, save it. If you have a helpful thought, please share. I get what Apple is trying to do and how this relates to cloud storage and social apps, but I do not care to pay for additional cloud storage. What I do want is direct access to my files.
I had hoped that I could still use an older version of iPhoto, but apparently not. I'm running Yosemite, and I have iPhoto 9.6 on my machine. Obviously I do not use it often, but it no longer even opens.
