Photos: Random-order slideshow; how?

In iPhoto a valuable feature was a slideshow in random order. How is this done in Photos?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), iMac-24, iMac-27, etc.

If I want a slideshow in Random Order, I use the screensaver in the System Preferences > Desktop and Screensaver.

It is simple to pick an album or smart album from my Photos Library and display it with one of the slideshow themes.

The screensaver has a "Shuffle" button, and in El Capitan it can be controlled using the arrow keys.

Workaround for random viewing of images in slideshows. (This isn't rocket science, but a few users may find this helpful.)

  1. Get an application that can play a folder of images in random order. (I use GraphicConverter. I found the freeware program Phoenix Slides http://blyt.net/phxslides/ that works well but has an atypical interface.)
  2. Select photos manually or by creating a smart album.
  3. Create a Finder folder for slideshow images. (I use the logical name Slideshow.) Open that folder.
  4. Select all the desired photos and drag them to the Finder folder you created. (Copying photos can be slow.)
  5. Launch your slideshow application, set up the slideshow, and direct the application to your Slideshow folder.
  6. Run your slideshow.
  7. If this is a one-time performance, trash your slideshow images from the Finder folder.
  8. Thank Apple for making you do all this instead of clicking a button or making a menu selection.
