Fake Chrome dialog box?
MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
You have to force quit Chrome. And then launch it while telling it not to reload the tabs.
This is an attempt to scam you out of money, but it doesn't mean there is malaware on your system. Absolutely don't call the helpline.
And LOL at a "system 32.exe failure" dialog on a Mac. LOL.
Not to mention some of the worst grammar I've ever seen on some of these stupid things.
Also, just where would they find a registry file in OS X? 🙂
Thank you for helping! One more question..... When I force quit Chrome and then open it -- all the tabs open so the dialog box is still there. It allows me to open new tabs but not to close any. I also can't get to Preferences to change it so that it doesn't open existing tabs. Any thoughts?
Try the instructions here to force a web site to close (scroll down). If you can get the menu button to respond, that is.
