Playing unchecked songs

Hello everybody

I have - lika the rest of you - a lot of albums in my iTunes library, but cannot have them all on my iPod. So I check the songs that I wish to put on my iPod (the little mark in the first column).

I expect a lot of you to do the same...

But now it seems that iTuns skip the uncheked songs when it plays. I can't believe it!! How do I make it play the music that I have, including the uncheked song??

Anyone, please!!

🙂

Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.

If you have too many songs in your library instead of unchecking songs, you can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" (called Sync Music - Selected playlists in iTunes 7) which would allow you to create a playlist specifically for your iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod Mini or Nano (around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB). /K,

Welcome to Discussions,

I expect a lot of you to do the same...

Probably, but a lot of "us" also use (Smart) Playlists to sync those to the iPod instead of syncing the whole library and unchecking songs we don't want on the it.

How do I make it play the music that I have, including the uncheked song??

You can only play checked songs manually. As you discovered, iTunes will skip those songs when playing the library or a playlist.
There is no way to change this behaviour.

That's why I recommend using (smart) playlists to sync to your iPod.

Hope this helps.

Not when they learn a betterway, they don't...

Checking/unchecking take so much time.
Instead of checking/unchecking songs to put onto the iPod, create playlists and sync only those playlists. Select the iPod in iTunes, click the Music tab and check Sync selected playlists.

The only stuff I have unchecked are Christams songs and a few others I don't want popping up unless I select them specifically.
Also, as you have noticed, unchecked songs get skipped. You can play one by selecting it but iTunes will stop when it's done.

How can we find out if the next update will make things easy again with just checking what you want on your ipod? I don't think it's "easy" spending hours creating the playlists that will be on my ipod. If I understand you correctly that would mean that all that there would be on my ipod are playlists. I want to be able to scroll through the artist or the albums. I won't make a playlist for all 346 artist I have in my collection.

It used to be that under perferences you could select play unchecked selections in shuffle.

I need to play unchecked selections on my computer. I have 100 gigs of music and only a 30 Gig ipod. Does this mean I have to go back to Itunes 6? Can I?

Finally, I just want to say that I think that removing the option to play unchecked items is Apple's sneaky way of making people think that they should just buy a bigger Ipod so they won't have to worry about checks or creating playlist.

Please if anyone out there has an another solution let me know.

Did you try?

Not only the synced playlists will be present, but you can still scroll through albums or artists.

I need to play unchecked selections on my computer.

You can. One by one.

Does this mean I have to go back to Itunes 6? Can I?

If iTunes 7 works fine on your system, there's no need to go back.
But you can, if you want.

I just want to say that I think that removing the option to play unchecked items ..........

That's not true. You can still sync unchecked item.
Connect the iPod and click the 'Summary' tab to see this option.

You can't.

Why would you think this? You can scroll thru Artists, Albums, songs, Genres.

I want to be able to scroll through the artist or the albums.
Then do it now.

I need to play unchecked selections on my computer.
Why do you have them unchecked? ** d you read any of the posts above,

Finally, I just want to say that I think that removing the option to play unchecked items
You could always play (and still can) play unchecked items.

Please if anyone out there has an another solution let me know.
What do you want to do?
