I set up a paypal account and put $10 in, and bought something, but iTunes hasn't charged my PayPal

Hey all. I'm really worried, because I had my PayPal setup to use iTunes, and bought something for $10. But it didn't show up on my PayPal! I had payment preferences in PayPal set to use "PayPal credit first, then credit card" and I'm confident that the bill was $9.99 exact, and I had $10, so it shouldn't have used anything on my debit card. So what's up? I don't have a receipt yet, nothings shown up on my PayPal. Could it be iTunes has accidentally charged my Debit card instead of my PayPal? Thanks or any replies.

UPDATE: I checked my debit card, and nothing has been charged. But now when I log into iTunes and go into payment section, it says "Your debit card was declined on your last purchase, please enter valid payment info and pay remaining balance, before you can purchase again." Now this I don't understand because iTunes was SUPPOSED to use my Paypal Balance to pay for the item, not my Debit Card, so why is it saying my payment was declined on the last purchase? I had 10 dollars in my paypal, why didn't itunes use that instead of trying to charge my debit card? And now what do I do to get this warning off?
