Where is the Pro App MXF Component?

For some odd reasons, I can't find the Custom / MXF export for MXF option in 10.2 I performed all updates for Pro Apps and no luck. That option is currently available on my Mac Book Pro. Is this a bug if I install from a fresh Yosemite, upgrade or what? How can I manually install that? Help! Need that option for broadcast submission.

To confirm my suspicion on the missing MXF component relating to hardware, I turned on another 2008 Mac Pro with the NVIDA GeForce GT120 w/ 512 Mb VRAM and OS X 10.10.3. There's no MXF component there. But FCP 10.2 still works. It has to be a video card issue when dealing with MXF component. Gradually I think FCP X will no longer support NVIDA GeForce GT120 and that Mac Pro will be used as a file server. It has very little resell value these days.

Hi Lonewolf2Koc,

Thanks for your question. The "How do I export MXF files?" section of this support article has the steps you need to export MXF files from Final Cut Pro X. I've highlighted the key information here for you. Click on the article for complete details.

How to use Pro Video Formats and MXF with Final Cut Pro X, Motion, and Compressor - Apple Support

To share an MXF file from Final Cut Pro, follow these steps.

  1. In Final Cut Pro, choose File > Share > Add Destination.
  2. Select Compressor Settings, open the Custom folder, then open the MXF folder.
  3. You'll see multiple MXF settings. Pick the one that matches the frame rate you need to deliver. Inside that folder are more choices for codec and frame size. Again, pick the setting that is appropriate for your delivery needs.
  4. Your choice will be added to your list of default settings in the Share menu. Continue with standard Share steps to save the shared MXF file.

If you’re sharing from Compressor 4.1 or later, the MXF presets will appear in the Settings pane under the Custom header. Click the disclosure triangle to see the various frame sizes and codec options available.

Have a great day!
