Purchased what I thought was the latest version of iPad Air2. Doubt as to it being the newest version have been cast because a case for the newest version does not fit. can anyone tell me how i can confirm this?

The current iPad Air 2 is the only iPad Air 2 - there have been no changes since its introduction last year?

I'm guessing your question is actually what's the difference between the iPad Air and the iPad Air 2. If so the most visible difference is the iPad Air 2 doesn't have a side switch above the volume switch while the iPad Air does.

TA thought there were two iPad Air2 models but have been told there is only one Air2. Am awaiting confirmation as to model number

In a way there are two; a wifi + cellular and a wifi only. But I never heard of a older and newer iPad Air 2.
