I'm asking this for my wife who has this situation.

at work I have a PC, can my iPhone with the charging cable that came with the phone charge my phone from USB on my PC?

UPDATE:
I plugged in her power cable to the pc and her phone but it did NOT charge.
So, either it's her PC or this is NOT the case.
and when I did not hear the 'power plug in tone' or see the green charging icon I immediately disconnected not wanting to damage the phone, I didn't care about the PC.
So, the above 'this solved my problem' didn't really solve the problem.

You can only charge an iPhone using a computer that has iTunes installed. That may be your issue. And it's risky, because the phone may sync to that computer, wiping out your music and apps. So it's best to just get an extra USB adapter.
Now that makes sense, and I am glad my gut said GET THEE OUT OF HERE,
