iPod is unresponsive (not recognized at all). Please help!

When connected to mac, the status light doesn't light up and doesn't show on Desktop either. Tried to follow the so called "reset steps" by Apple but didn't do anything. Any suggestions? I managed to use it the first time (doesn't have more than a week) to sync music without problems and is currently still playing music (battery hasn't run out). I might have disconnected it before it was properly ejected. Any suggestions please?!

iPod shuffle (4th generation late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
