ipod classsic cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application

Need help, pulling my hair out.

I can't eject my ipod classic in the normal way.
I have changed the setting to disable use of ipod as storage.
still no luck.

iPod classic, Windows 7

The usual culprit is your anti-virus programme. If the anti-virus is checking the files used by your iPod when you try to eject it, then you get that message.

If all else fails, close down your computer. Once it has closed down, you can safely remove the iPod from the computer.
