Apple have got rid of Aperture and will be bringing out a new programme/app so you cannot use Aperture once you have upgraded to Yosemite - here is an article from Mac World about it.

Hi there
Aperture 3.6 runs just fine in Yosemite 10.3.3
If you bought Aperture from the App Store - go to your 'Purchases' tab and download
Also - take a look at all the other threads on this forum for further advice

This is simply not true. Aperture 3.6 runs perfectly fine on Yosemite.
Go to the Mac App Store, purchased tab, and update or download Aperture from there.
Thanks but I have tried that already and it doesn't work cannot update it download it and cannot find it in the UK app store
William I am having the same problem. Updated from Mavericks to Yosemite, which made my current Aperture unavailable, I went to the App Store, went to "Purchased" found Aperture and clicked update. I get a small spinning thing on the upper left, but it stops shortly thereafter. I see no appstore activity, or very little when I go to LittleSnitch to see what is being downloaded.... virtually nothing.
Exact same problem here and was starting to panic. This worked for me: I moved Aperture to the trash (but didn't empty it) and then checked the app store again. Under purchases the update button changed to install. I was able to install and update library without a problem. Hope this works for you too.
Very helpful! Trouble solved.
But still I feel bad. I have been purchasing Aperture licences since its launch and now I need to do these workarounds. I dislike being treated like that.
The point is if you bought it else where you are stuffed, i got mine trough an independent retailer
you seem like you are ok if bought through the app store, but if bought through a specialist dealer you have had it, it is a shame that you are treated like this, hard earned money wasted, so now you only get support if you purchase through the app store, even though the copy I have is genuine with the correct codes

The App Store support should help you nevertheless. Owning a valid Aperture 3 installation, you are entitled to the current Aperture 3 update, even if it is only available from the App Store.
I bought Aperture when it was still delivered on CD's. Hundred2one, your workaround works, it's downloading now. After it downloads I should open it and throw out the Aperture which is in the trash, is that correct?
Also, this may be of interest; I inherited my mother's iMac about a year ago. I installed a clone of my system into that machine, and have been using it casually in another location. On that machine I had already upgraded thru the whole cycle of 10.10.1 to 10.10.3. I was able to update Aperture at 10.10.1. By the time I got to 10.10.3 there was no problem.
That means that it didn't matter then that I didn't purchase Aperture at the AppStore. I'm not sure what it means exactly but maybe there is some clue for other Aperture users to find another way.
