I noticed FaceTime bounces on the dock for about 30 secs when loading. this started after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.3 a few days ago and the delay is quite annoying especially when receiving calls. Any similar situations and possible solutions please.

Same here, driving me nuts! There was an app store update today, indicating it was a fix for apps that try to access the video camera. This did not fix the issue.

it takes exactly 30 seconds to open up FaceTime and iMessages.. It's like as though some bugg that has been added in the code. sort of a delay or something... it consistently is 30 seconds..

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Internet Accounts -> iCloud
Uncheck "Contacts"
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Internet Accounts -> Google
Uncheck "Contacts"
etc
Open the contacts app; you should see no contacts listed (don't worry they haven't been deleted you're just not connected to the internet accounts that load them)
Now restart iMessage. It should start instantly.
HI. I just tried your solution and it worked for both FaceTime and iMessage. However I checked the contacts again on all accounts and the problem returned. At least it appears the source of the problem has been identified. Thanks

i guess all of you are using Google account on your Mac.
Go to accounts under preferences and delete the google account and add it again.
My problem was solved permanent.
