What is the purpose of the family circle folder?

WWhen I was at the Apple Store yesterday, a folder was found under library and privacy notifications or something to that effect called family circle...what is that, what is the purpose, just what is it in general?

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? I'm not sure if it a systems thing or not but what is this folder?
