Apple may ban your HD videos, suddenly today I'm told they won't play on my display. with no notice or fix.
Hi, im having the same problem with my LG ultra wide screen, so you used the display port to thunderbolt?
Hello!
I bought LG 29UM57 (21:9) monitor and connected to my mac mini md387 with MDP > HDMI cable. And I set custom resolution in settings (by editing configuration file). I got native resolution for my monitor. It is was not possible with HDMI > HDMI cable.
But I have other problem with my screen scaling:
What MDP>HDMI adopter did you use?
In Display Properties is there a Scaling slider?
I use this cable: "[4K Ultra HD] aLLreLi 1.8M Mini Displayport auf HDMI Kabel"
I bought here:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00Z9QE7OU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detai lpage_o02_s00
In settings of monitor I set "Ratio" to "Original" and I got this result:
Previous picture was with "Wide" mode of "Ratio"
Hi zBritva,
I have a similar setup using a Mac Book Pro, however I cannot get the LG to be detected properly by the Mac. You mentioned you got it to work by editing a configuration file. What file was it and what settings did you give it? I am using the same Monitor with a 4k MDP to HDMI adapter. Any information on "how to" would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

Just how is it not properly identified?
Hi,
When I go into "About This Mac" and click on the Display tab it reports:
LG Ultrawide Display
34-inch (1920 x 1080)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB graphics
All well and good, except it is a 29 inch 2560 x 1080 display that works find with M$ Windows.
Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.
Jack
