Bootcamp install not working after update

I have a 2015 MacbookPro 15inc with Windows 8.1 installed under bootcamp. I had an update mess up bootcamp earlier in the year, but was able to fix it using command prompt. However since updating 2 days ago bootcamp has stopped again and anything I do does not work.

When I boot with option key I see a mac and windows option, when I follow the windows I get an immediate blue screen with error 0xc00000e. I have tried various diskpart and bcd commands with no success, in-fact now I have two options for windows on boot, neither of which work.

I have looked at some of the other inputs in the forum and have posted the requested info from command below:

The NTFS MFT is corrupt, so a directory is not very reliable. The WindowsRE is not supposed to be NTFS, but yet it is. The main partition is supposed to be NTFS, which it is not. You may have incorrectly linked file blocks, which means what you copied is not very reliable either.

My recommendation it to re-install, using EFI or normal BCA, as you prefer.

Apr 17, 2015 4:55 AM in response to walkies_a

There are several advantages of the EFI method vis-a-vis the legacy BIOS (aka Hybrid MBR) method.

1. From a disk partitioning perspective, the structures are much simpler. The disk is GPT-only and there is no need to keep things in sync, a failure that has plagued Yosemite for many users.

2. There is no limitation and/or requirement for number of partitions imposed by an MBR (limit of 4 parts). GPT can support larger disks, and support 128 entries, and uses 64-bit structures.

3. The old method has to 'boot' a BIOS layer (CSM-BIOS), which is no longer required. This can cause slow switching speeds, between OS X and Windows. The EFI layer is much more efficient, compared to the BIOS layer.

It should make your overall experience much better.

I have a late 2013 15 rMBP, which supports UEFI. All Macs after Late 2013 models support EFI. You mention W8.1, which works much better, but I have run into nasty issues with W7 and EFI on Macs. If you see a need in the future for a W7 installation, my suggestion would be to use a Virtualization engine rather than Bootcamp.

Apr 17, 2015 5:23 AM in response to Loner T

That's great. I need to run it natively rather than through a virtualization as I need the thunderbolt ports. I have not found a way of getting thunderbolt ports working through a virtualization except for storage, wheras I need them.for video capture.... Anyhow, I have windows 8.1 so will try and install this morning! Thanks again!

Were the two slices (disk0s4 and disk0s5) erased and converted to Free Space? Can you post the output of the following command? You seem to have remnants of the old Windows installation still hanging around. If you Continue on the second screen, do you have an option to erase and install a new copy of Windows?

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

Apr 17, 2015 7:18 AM in response to Loner T

when I click the option "continue, exit and continue to windows 8.1" it simply reboots to the bootloader screen. If I click use a device it lists "Mac OS X". If I click troubleshoot it lists the usual commands from that screen There is no obvious install option. Here is the output from the command:
