Q: frigging iTunes!

Hello!

I am using iTunes v10.7 and cannot make it to do what I want it to do.

iTunes always opens whenever I download an audio file from the internet and automatically adds it to the library, whether I want it or not.

This was not happening when using previous versions of the app but, I cannot find a way to make this version of iTunes behave as previous versions did.

The only solution seems to be downgrading iTunes which I once did but can't remember how was it done.

Any help with this issue will be welcome.

Thank you

The"plug-in" to which I was referring was MediaHuman.  It seems to have added that Audio Output item to your Safari preferences and as such has changed Safari's behavior in regards to files being played automatically on download even though that preferences is not selected in Safari's own General preferences window. If an until you hear from their developers if there is something you can change, or you wait patiently for them to decide if this is an issue they even care about, you may have to decide if you can put up with the playback behavior or want to remove the plug-in which you installed in Safari.

Then some other piece of automation on your system, or a bug with your downloader. iTunes does not have a process that watches downloaded files. Since iTunes 9 there is a folder called Automatically Add to iTunes inside your media folder. Anything dropped in there will be integrated with the library when iTunes is running, but that isn't what is going on.

Actually, I don't have the slightest idea why this was happening, nor the slightest idea why it stopped doing it!

The developers wrote to me saying "We’re trying to figure out why this happens. I’ve just installed os x 10.6.8 and still can’t replicate such a behavior.

The .plist file that you found in Preferences folder is simple configuration file. It’s not a plug-in or something."

In any case, I give up trying to understand and will not pursue this issue any longer.

    Thank you for your patience.

That are utilities for easy editing of preferences files but with everything strung together like that it is hard to see what bit of code is doing what.
