3 finger swipe is gone!

i'm looking everywhere and its gone, the 3 finger swipe to select text or move anything on the the desktop is just plain gone.

But only on the new macbook. OS X 10.10.3 on my macbook air, it works just fine.

Beautiful new computer with awesome look and feel, and amazing trackpad, and i have to go back to clicking on a window to move it or select text, really?

Apple support solution; click with one finger, and use some other finger to drag the object, or select text, it's designed this way.

the question? how do we get apple to restore this simple but oh so useful feature?

Please help.

thanks~~~jim

IF you look under accessibility, trackpad, options you can turn on click lock that allows the same thing. Not sure why they moved it out of the trackpad settings.

I won't take credit, I found the solution in another discussion (sorry can't remember where or I'd give proper credit). I was very surprised that this option would be removed and buried so deeply.

I hope it is an error that is corrected, or I am afraid Apple is kind of cramming too many things into one trackpad and the "old stuff" is getting dropped for the new shiny stuff (that I for one don't use, like force click).

Which option did you choose under Enable Dragging (I assume is what Edmund was referring to) because I still can't get it to work like it used to. The weird thing is that under Trackpad, the 3 finger option for switching between full screen apps is still there and selected. I thought I was going crazy.

My scenario is when playing video in full screen in VLC, I used to swipe with 3 fingers to move back to my other windows and swipe back, but now I have to exit fullscreen viewing in VLC by double clicking the video and do what I do before re-entering fullscreen by double-clicking.

Ah, after further inspection and using a native Apple app, it appears the 3 finger gesture in Trackpad is still working, but not for some 3rd party applications (VLC in my case). If you open Safari and make it full screen, the 3 finger swipe still functions as expected. Guess they changed an API that 3rd parties will need to update in their apps to support the gestures.

Thanks for fixing something that wasn't broken Apple. @_@
