I am trying to RESTORE my apple TV box
Instructions read : open I tunes on computer, select Apple TV in source list, and then click restore. I can't find the restore list.

Press menu & & my menu & the down button wait until the light flashes rapidly then unplug the power cord, wait three seconds and replug and the reset menu should appear!
If the device is in recovery mode then it needs to be restored via iTunes
To OP: The steps need to be followed exactly (unplug all cables, connect micro USB, if using a 3rd gen reconnect power). Connect directly to computer. Try a different cable.
