Q: My device won't take a charge. What should I do?

My iPod 5th generation will not charge anymore. The black screen with the battery in need of being charged is all I see but sometimes the device will charge. When it does charge it only will charge to about 20% and then quit. I have tried using different chord, adaptors, ect. What should I do?

If you have tried different chargers and different cables, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store, or Authorized Apple Service provider to have the device hardware checked.

No charge for them to examine the device, but if there is something wrong and the device is out of warranty, there would be a cost to replace it.

Okay thank you, I'm going to assume for now that it is the battery. I've been looking at costs of getting a new battery but the prices are all over the place. Do you know how much a replacement battery/installation would be for the iPod touch 5th generation?
