Max memory on MacBook

Hi

This article mentions that the Maximum memory for a MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) is 4GB. Does anyone know if that is per slot or total?

Thanks!

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

That model would be the Unibody Identifier 5,1. According to OWC this model will take 8 GB RAM, 4 GB per slot:

Call them to make absolutely sure.

That support site you reference is somewhat confusing:

It says the Max Memory is 4 GB (Which has often been Apple's position) but then it says "a pair of ....or 4 GB memory modules)."
