Adding a new ipod to my account?

When I got my daughter a new ipod, I set it up under my apple ID. But then all of my iphone contacts transferred to her ipod. It's been that way for months. If I try to delete them, they are also deleted from my iphone.

Creating a new apple ID would work, I assume but at this point is there a way to remove all of my contacts but keep all the sharing of music/apps? She's bought alot of music over the months and I would hate for her to lose it all.

Thanks for any help.

Setup Family Sharing if the devices meets the requirements

Do this too:

Otherwise:

Create a NEW account/ID using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:

Settings>Messages>Send and Receive

Settings>FaceTime

Settings>GameCenter

and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.

Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will look over the links in depth more when I am home with the device.

The family sharing looks interesting.

Currently I have an iphone under my apple ID as well as two ipads and my daughters ipod. my son also has an ipod but it's under a separate apple ID. The ipads are both the 3rd generation so they're a few years old. And my sons ipod is 4th gen. Daughter ipod is 5th gen.

I assume the family sharing would be the way to go. WOuld there be an issue since:

a) some of the devices are older

b) my son has his own apple ID
